Sesiro Insurance Reaffirms Its Strength with A (BW) Credit Rating and Stable Outlook
Sesiro Insurance, a captive insurer providing risk cover for Debswana and its associated entities, has received a renewed vote of confidence from Global Credit Ratings (GCR), a member of Moody’s. GCR has reaffirmed Sesiro’s national scale financial strength rating of A(BW) with a Stable Outlook, a strong endorsement of the company’s strategic focus, operational discipline, and unwavering commitment to delivering long-term value to its clients and stakeholders.

The affirmation follows the insurer’s marked progress in strengthening its operational discipline, sharpening its strategic focus, and reinforcing its commitment to long term value creation for clients and stakeholders, positioning Sesiro as a steadily emerging force in Botswana’s insurance landscape.
GCR underscored Sesiro’s solid capital position, supported by a prudent and conservative investment strategy. The company’s liquidity profile also remains exceptionally strong, consistently surpassing industry benchmark thresholds, an indicator of its financial resilience and operational soundness.
Revenue growth also underpinned the outlook, with insurance income up by 23.4% year on year, helping Sesiro secure the fourth largest market share in Botswana’s insurance sector by Gross Written Premium (GWP).
“This reaffirmation is not just about numbers, it reflects the trust we continue to build and the discipline we have instilled in our operations,” said Ndiye Letsholathebe-Chief Executive Officer of Sesiro Insurance.
“Our focus remains on delivering sustainable value to our clients, stakeholders, and the broader Debswana Group, while adapting to the evolving demands of the local insurance landscape.”
GCR noted: “The Stable Outlook signals continued confidence in Sesiro’s ability to maintain capital, liquidity, and performance standards, while steadily evolving its risk framework.”
The reaffirmation is expected to furtherbolster stakeholder confidence, particularly within the Debswana Group and Botswana’s financial services industry, where local capital resilience remains under close watch amid regulatory shifts and tightening.
